Panic at packed London restaurant as knife-wielding attackers storm in and ‘confront couple’ – before fleeing as owners shut doors and police launch manhunt

Panic erupted at a packed London restaurant this evening after knife-wielding attackers stormed in and reportedly confronted a couple before fleeing.

The chaotic scenes unfolded at Tashas Battersea at around 8:25pm on Monday.

At least three men carrying knives stormed the eatery and headed to a couple who were seated at a table enjoying a meal, on-site staff members told the MailOnline.

The attackers then confronted the male and female customers, allegedly aged between 22 and 25.

The man seated at the table was also carrying a knife, according to restaurant workers, and made a run with the woman as the attackers chased them through the building.

Objects and food were tossed through the air as other customers fled the restaurant while the police were called.

It was then, the three attackers dashed out of the door and escaped the scene in a car that had been parked outside, according to staff recollections.

The young couple were questioned by restaurant workers once the assailants had left, but they allegedly did not recognise their attackers and had no idea who they could have been.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after but have remained unsuccessful in tracking down the attackers who managed to escape.

The restaurant closed its doors immediately after the incident, but reported no injuries as the couple also left the scene unharmed.

Other horrified witnesses took to social media to describe what they experienced.

One X/Twitter user wrote: ‘Horrible scenes in Battersea Power Station this evening.

‘A gang of 20 people walked into tashas to attack someone.

‘One of the waitresses ran into Wagamamas next door, where my girlfriend and I were eating.

‘Praying for those affected’.

MailOnline have contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment.
