Just weeks after Spencer Matthews attended the Spanish wedding of his close friend Jamie Laing alone, his glamorous wife was uncharacteristically silent on their five-year anniversary in 2023.
Her decision to stay quiet was notable because the year before, Vogue Williams had, in fact, taken to Instagram to gush over their four years of being husband and wife.
The absence of any public acknowledgement of the date prompted much chatter that all was not well in the Matthews-Williams household, especially after rumours began to circulate around Chelsea (where Spencer and Jamie made their names on the Channel 4 reality show Made In Chelsea) that there had supposedly been an ‘incident’ involving Spencer at Jamie’s May 2023 wedding to Sophie Habboo.
With Vogue 1,500 miles away at the time looking after their three children (Theodore, now six, Gigi, four, and Otto, two), the ‘incident’ became the talk of the nuptials, where guests included MIC royalty Ollie Locke, Ollie Proudlock, Emily Blackwell and model Lottie Moss.
Rumours spread on Whatsapp that Lottie and Spencer got together at the wedding, but she has always denied anything untoward took place. Lottie has conceded that she and Spencer ‘partied together’ at the celebrations.
Now, almost two years after Jamie and Sophie’s lavish wedding celebrations at a sprawling mansion on the Andalucian coast, people are speculating about their marriage on social media.

And fans of Spencer and Vogue, who have worked hard to build up their brand and become one of the most recognisable reality television couples in the country, have begun to question whether all is well in their six-year-marriage.
Adding to the mystery, I can also reveal Spencer and Jamie, who were once inseparable, are now rarely seen together.
The pair’s award-winning and lucrative podcast 6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer, which was broadcast on BBC Sounds, suddenly ended last November amid claims Vogue had insisted Spencer pull the plug on the show. Incidentally, Spencer now hosts a new podcast with former X Factor star Jake Quickenden, called Untapped.
Added to that, sources tell me Spencer has yet to comment publicly on the gruelling ultra marathons challenge for Comic Relief that Jamie just completed. Instead Jamie has been supported by his wife Sophie and friends like Ollie Proudlock on his 150-mile, five day run from London to Salford which has raised £2,007,114 so far.
Spencer doesn’t appear to have posted any congratulatory messages about his achievement – or even given a simple ‘like.’
Instead on Thursday morning Spencer posted a video of himself basking in the sun by the River Thames to plug his forthcoming podcast about manifesting.
‘Spencer has been a bit non-plussed about Jamie’s challenge which is very odd given they were so close.
‘They were like brothers, he [Spencer] was master of ceremonies at the wedding and they were always there for one another. It is the talk of their friendship group now that they seem to have fallen out. It’s very mysterious.
‘Jamie’s run is perhaps the biggest thing he will ever do in his life – surely he must be missing his friend. You now have to wonder what has happened to cause a change in their relationship. Whatever went on, it caused a lot of friction. It’s still being referred to amongst their unforgiving circle.’
Spencer’s fall out with Jamie is perhaps not the only issue troubling the son of multi-millionaires David and Jane Matthews who own Eden Rock Caribbean – the five-star resort favoured by the rich and famous on the island of St Barts.

He and Vogue, the Irish model turned presenter who was previously married to Westlife singer Brian McFadden from 2012 to 2017, found their own union under scrutiny last week.
When Vogue was interviewed on a Netmums podcast, she revealed the division of domestic labour in their home can lead to arguments.
Hosts Wendy Golledge and Alison Perry asked if the couple had a ‘role reversal situation’, whereby Vogue is the one who ‘fixes the broken radiator’ while Spencer ‘does the school run’.
But the TV presenter candidly admitted: ‘In the nicest way possible, I would say I fix the broken radiator and I do the school run.’
Vogue went even further saying: ‘I would say I do 80 per cent of what [goes on]. We’ve actually been having a little tiff about that this morning, about the stuff that I do.’
Laughing, she added: ‘I’ve had enough today!’
On her own podcast with her sister, Vogue & Amber, the mother-of-three gave more insight into their home life, hinting the parents also compete over who is most sleep deprived. Describing an incident in which their youngest son, Otto, woke up in the night and ran into his parents room she said: ‘Then [Otto] ran into the kitchen and Spenny was raging. You think I’m obsessed with my sleep, Spenny gets up and was like, “I’m already in a sleep deficit, I need to get back to sleep”.’
Meanwhile, to add to their pressure, Vogue and Spencer who are keen to move to a bigger home, have had to slash the price on the Battersea apartment they bought in 2018 from £5.25million to £4.75million as it has struggled to sell.
‘There’s a lot going on with Vogue and Spencer at the moment,’ says one friend of the couple. ‘It’s a stressful situation for them.’
Along with their three children, both have busy work schedules after developing into something of a brand. Vogue has her own fake tan business – Bar by Vogue Williams – and has a lucrative deal with Fairy washing liquid. Spencer has his own alcohol-free spirits company as well as his podcast.
Spencer, 36, and Vogue, 39, first met back in 2017 when her marriage to McFadden had just ended and both were appearing on a Channel 4 reality series, The Jump, which saw celebrities trying to master a host of different winter sports.
Initially she turned Spencer down when he first plucked up the courage to ask her out but later relented.
Some who know Vogue say she is ‘particularly ambitious’ and many aren’t surprised that she ended up with Spencer, whose older brother James is married to Pippa Middleton, the younger sister of the Princess of Wales.
Having already been married to Brian McFadden certainly raised Vogue’s profile, although she’s also described her shame at her marriage having failed.
She said: ‘I got married and divorced really young and I found that painfully embarrassing, because it was just like such an epic failure and it was so public.’
But it certainly increased her profile – something those who know her say she had a certain ‘knack’ for.
‘She has always known what she wanted,’ says a source close to her. ‘She’s from fairly humble beginnings in Ireland but she knew how to make herself stand out. First it was Brian and then it was a husband who had links to the Royal family.
‘Let’s hope it doesn’t end in tears.’
