Queen Maxima of the Netherlands looked typically stylish as she visited a Food Rescue Centre in Diemen on Tuesday.

The Dutch royal, 53, travelled to catering wholesaler, InstockMarket, who are attempting to fight back against food waste.

The company offers chefs the chance to buy excess food and by-products to help increase sustainability.

Despite the grey and rainy weather in the town, Maxima stepped out in a strikingly chic all-brown ensemble.

The mother-of-three donned a chic caramel trench coat which she paired with an elegant knitted sand-coloured roll neck dress with a belted waist which showed off her toned frame.

Maxima paired this sophisticated look with her nude leather Gianvito Rossi Laura 85 knee boots and sported large chocolate brown dangly earrings.

She added a touch of pizzazz to her outfit by slinging her Marina Raphael June bag in Champagne Woven Napa over her shoulder.

She wore her blonde tresses down in a sleek straight blow-dry and went for a smoky makeup look, consisting of dark eyeshadow and pink lipstick.

The queen oozed confidence as she stepped out of her car and greeted staff of the food centre with a grin on her face.

InstockMarket urges those who work in kitchens to keep their ‘food footprint’ low and says that all perishable goods that come to their centre go through quality control.

The corporation claims it has saved more than 3.5million kilograms of food waste so far, adding that it is working with around 200 suppliers to help minimise this.

It states: ‘Waste occurs due to an incorrect size, incorrectly labelled packaging, cancelled orders or simply surpluses.’

To learn further about how leftovers can be reused and utilised, Maxima put on her protective gear and entered the warehouse.

She was accompanied by a member of staff around the centre donning a bright blue rubber gloves, a white hair net and green hi-vis jacket.

At the end of last month, the Queen attended a training course in Houten which also centred around food.

The royal, 53, looked in high spirits as she visited SVO Vakopleiding Food, a trade school that prepares students for careers in the industry.

The class trains those who want jobs as butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, and caterers, as well as people looking to enter the poultry, supermarket, and industrial food industries.

Maxima put her best fashion foot forward in an elegant ensemble comprising a khaki-coloured blouse, with irregular batwing sleeves, graphite-coloured, high-waisted trousers.

She opted for a pair of chocolate brown boots and finished her look with the charcoal-coloured Natan overcoat that is a key fixture of Maxima’s chic wardrobe.

To accessorise, the mother-of-three chose large slate-coloured diamante earrings with black pearls, and matching silver diamond bracelets.

She also carried her classic Chanel quilted bag – which costs around £7,000 – that perfectly complemented her chic look.

However, she quickly tucked her hair inside a purple hairnet when she entered the facility, with Maxima appearing to take heed of the school’s health and safety regulations.

She also donned a white lab coat as she toured the facility, with the luxury handbag still slung over her shoulder.
