Princess Sofia of Sweden and Prince Carl Philip’s newborn daughter Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia has made her first public appearance on her grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf’s birthday.
Sweden’s longest reigning King was joined by his wife Queen Silvia, children, and grandchildren as he waved at crowds gathered outside the Royal Palace in Stockholm on the occasion of his 79th birthday.
Among them was the newest member of the Swedish royal family, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip’s baby, Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silva.
She was swathed in a cream blanket with embroidered flowers and leaves, and Ines’ face was concealed with a white bonnet.
Princess Sofia, 40, was glowing as she lovingly cradled the infant, with Carl Philip, 45, and the couple’s two sons, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian, watching over them.
Sofia picked an elegant cream blazer for the occasion and kept her makeup natural and dewy while Carl Philip donned his naval regalia in honour of his father Carl Gustaf’s birthday.
Prince Gabriel, seven, and Prince Julian, three, were dressed in identical beige coats worn over what appeared to be dark suits.
While Sweden’s heir apparent, Crown Princess Victoria, was not photographed at the Inner Courtyard on her father’s birthday, her husband Prince Daniel, 51, and the couple’s two children, Princess Estelle, 13, and Prince Oscar, nine, were present.

Carl Gustaf and Silvia’s youngest daughter Princess Madeline was also present, alongwith her husband, financier Christopher O’Neill, their daughters, Princess Leonore and Princess Adrienne, and son, Prince Nicolas, nine.
The Swedish Palace announced Princess Ines’ birth on February 7, with Princess Sofia and Prince Philip’s daughter eighth in line to the throne.
The couple already have three sons Prince Alexander, eight, Prince Gabriel, seven, and Prince Julian, three, meaning Ines will grow up surrounded by the love and support of her older brothers.
Days after Princess Ines was born, Sofia and Carl Philip shared adorable photographs of their ‘perfect quartet’ on Instagram.
In the first snap, the three older brothers admired their sister, who was wrapped in a warm blanket.
The second image showed three-year-old Prince Julian sweetly pecking his younger sister on the forehead.
The Instagram caption read: ‘It turned out to be a perfect little quartet. Big and warm thanks for all the nice congratulations to our little Ines.’
Viewers flocked to the comment section to share their thoughts, including Princess Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who wrote: ‘Congratulations’.

Their social media post came after the Swedish Palace officially released the first portrait of Ines that was captured by her mother.
The sweet snap showed her little one, in a white shirt with hearts, cuddled up in a blanket.
Commenters rushed to share the congratulations to the family, with messages of support.
‘Adorable! Congratulations on the little Princess!’ one penned. ‘So sweet,’ a second gushed. A third penned: ‘Such a pretty little Ines! Congratulations to the whole family.’
According to the Palace, the royal, 40, delivered a ‘healthy’ daughter at on Friday February 7 at 1.10pm, with her husband by her side.
As she left the hospital, Princess Sofia was glowing, looking radiant as she smiled at waiting photographers.
The royal couple announced last September that they would be having their fourth child together.
A Palace statement revealing the pregnancy at the time said: ‘Swedish Royal Household at the time of the pregnancy announcement read: ‘Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have the great pleasure to announce that the Princess is expecting the couple’s fourth child.

Carl Gustaf and Silvia’s youngest daughter Princess Madeline was also noticeably absent from the courtyard, with only her husband, financier Christopher O’Neill, and their son, Prince Nicolas, nine, (not pictured) seemingly joining at the Royal Palace on the occasion of the monarch’s birthday.

‘Princess Sofia is doing well and the birth is expected in February 2025. No changes are expected in Princess Sofia’s official program during the autumn.’
The statement was shared alongside a sweet photograph of the couple, with Carl Philip smiling at the camera, while his wife leaned her head on his face. The background featured a stunning lake and several mountains.
While she is eighth in line to the throne, Sofia and Carl Philip’s child will not have an HRH style title because of a decision made by King Carl XVI Gustaf in 2019.
During his Christmas speech, he revealed that he was stripping his grandchildren of their titles so that it could help them ‘eventually carve out their own future’.
The monarch said at the time: ‘The decision was to make clear who within the royal family will act as official representatives of Sweden in the future. For me, this is a way of clarifying what expectations are.
‘It will hopefully be helpful when my grandchildren eventually carve out their own future. But, to that day, it is far away.’
