Police name biker killed in Borders crash with car

A 26-year-old biker who died in a crash in the Scottish Borders on Saturday has been named by police.

Officers were called to an incident between a motorbike and a Nissan X-Trail on an unclassified road between Lauder and Galashiels, known locally as the Langshaw Road, at about 15:45.

Stuart Brandon Donald, from Tranent, East Lothian, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured and the road was shut for about six hours for investigations.

Sgt Michael Shillington said: “Our thoughts are with Stuart’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”

He added that inquiries were continuing into the crash and thanked everyone who had come forward with information so far.

Police have appealed for any other witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
