Moment Uber driver pulls over in the middle of a ride to phone his daughter and wish her happy birthday

Watch the heartwarming moment an Uber driver pulls over to wish his daughter a happy birthday at exactly midnight.

The video, taken by one of his passengers, is captioned: ‘Best Uber experience. He asked if he could call his daughter for her birthday at 12am.’

As the London cab driver turned the car with one hand, he held his phone with his other and wished his daughter a happy birthday.

‘Hello baby, happy birthday,’ he said.

‘I have some friends with me and they want to sing a song for you.’

What follows is an off-key but well intentioned chorus of ‘happy birthday’ from the car’s passengers, who were keen to join in the festivities.

The driver’s daughter fills in her own name ‘Sarah’ at the right spot in the song and shyly tells her father: ‘Thank you.’

One of the passengers then yells ‘hip hip!’ before the video cuts off, likely to shouts of ‘hip hip hooray!’

Taxi company Uber implements a driving time limit for all its workers that caps drivers at 12 hours of driving before they must take a break of at least six hours.

In order to enforce this, the Uber Driver App – used by drivers to book customers – blocks a driver’s access once they have reached their maximum drive time.

Often, Uber drivers work through the nights to cater to those returning from nights out or heading to the airport.

Night time is also a period which sees less traffic congestion and higher demand for cabs as public transport is severely limited.
