Maxine Peake is locked in a bitter row with neighbours over plans to convert her £1million farmhouse into a rehearsal space in Leominster, Herefordshire.
The Shameless star, 50, who has been living in the village for just over a year, wishes to build a work space in her Grade II listed farmhouse at her countryside home.
However, one neighbour has claimed the plan will cause ‘noise and disturbance’ and that she should use the village hall instead.
Former landscaper Peter Ramsey, who lives next door in the village, is fighting the plans, according to a planning application submitted to Herefordshire council.
The neighbour is concerned about the ‘loud music and noise involved in using an outside kitchen to provide for a large number of actors’.
He has suggested the award-winning actress instead use the village hall two miles away, stating it is ‘available to hire for community use at the remarkable rate of £16 per day’.

Peter has requested to the council, if the plans are approved, for the development to have ‘sound proofing and no outdoor performances or rehearsals to take place’.
Plans for the supposed idea – submitted by Maxine’s production design partner Pawlo Wintoniuk – also include space for a pottery studio in one of the barns, seven car parking spaces and six cycling spaces.
MailOnline has contacted Maxine’s representatives for a comment.
Maxine recently revealed she is taking part in Great British Bake Off’s Stand Up To Cancer special this spring.
The full line-up for the Stand Up To Cancer 2025 celebrity specials have already been revealed alongside the hosts and judges.
While Alison Hammond, Noel Fielding and Paul Hollywood will step back into their usual roles, a new face in the form of Prue Leith’s close friend can be seen alongside them in the promotional image.
Channel 4 have confirmed that Caroline Waldegrave OBE will be taking over from Prue temporarily, after the TV star, 84, confirmed last year that she’ll be taking a break from the specials due to the demands of back-to-back filming.
