A massive UK music venue, which is ranked among the best in the world, is set to shut its doors in a matter of weeks.
Motion has been at the heart of Bristol’s famed nightlife scene for more than two decades, with stars including The Chemical Brothers, Chase and Status and Rudimental all taking to the stage.
The club is regularly mentioned among the best venues in the world – and came out on top in the DJ Mag Best of British Awards’s category for the Best Large Club in the UK.
But now they are set to lose their iconic Grade II listed venue – a former skatepark – and are launching a last to try and find a new venue, as they ask for money from their loyal patrons.
On their Crowdfunder, the owners said: ‘For nearly 20 years, Motion has been at the heart of Bristol’s nightlife – a place where music unites people and unforgettable memories are created.

‘What started as a skate park in a former gasworks has grown into one of the UK’s most respected venues, welcoming artists from around the world and generations of music lovers. More than just a club, Motion has been a home for creativity, community, and connection.
‘Unfortunately, we’ve recently received confirmation that our lease will not be renewed when it expires in July 2025, placing the future of the venue in serious jeopardy.
The industrial warehouse in which it is based consists of five indoor venues, with the main room capable of hosting 1,600.
The owners are said to have attempted to buy the property but have been unsuccessful in their attempts.
Its sister venue The Marble Factory, which is also set to close, focuses on live music.
They continued: ‘In response, we’ve submitted a bid to purchase the property in an effort to safeguard Motion’s legacy.
‘However, as time passes and with no response from the landowners, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the opportunity to stay is slipping away.

‘But we’re not giving up. We’ve made the decision to take matters into our own hands and start the search for a new home for Motion. And we need your help to make it happen.’
The club is now battling to keep its hopes alive as it raises money with tickets to a closing party, limited edition merchandise and even lifetime passes.
Their ‘Last Dance’ is set to be hosted on July 19, with their closing series starting on May 4.
In a social media post launching their closing celebrations, they said: ‘Times change, moments fade, but connection remains.
‘The call of the dancefloor pulling us back to it’s warm embrace. United by the music, the vibe, the pulse that brings us together for fleeting moments that last forever.’
