A man has been charged after a teenager was allegedly forced into a car and kidnapped before being dumped at a train station seriously injured.

Police were called to reports of dangerous driving and an assault on a teenage boy on Vineyard Way in Purfleet, Essex, at around 7.35pm on March 7.

Spencer Ven Schevensteen, 38, was arrested and charged with kidnap, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and common assault.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Schevensteen allegedly got out and assaulted the teenage boy before forcing him into the vehicle and driving away.

Officers found the boy, who had been left nearby Purfleet train station, shortly after.

He was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital for treatment.

Within 30 minutes of the police being called, they found the vehicle less than a mile away on Botany Terrace.
