Lorraine viewers rant ‘it’s a hard no!’ after ‘glitter gravy’ cooking demo leaves Christine Lampard squirming – but would you eat it?

Lorraine viewers were left disgusted by a cooking segment on Tuesday’s show – and they weren’t the only ones.

Host Christine Lampard, 45, was also left squirming as she presented a demonstration of glitter gravy alongside Lucie Cave, 52.

The pair were showing viewers the latest trend to jazz up roast dinners, which includes adding edible glitter to gravy.

And while Lucie tucked in to try the bizarre new fad, Christine was left disgusted and refused to try it.

The Northern Irish presenter opened up the segment by explaining the trend.

She said:’What do you think of this? It’s edible glitter gravy, which some people are apparently using this year to glam up their Christmas dinner.

‘You just mix special glitter with your normal gravy, apparently.’

But after looking at the jug full of the bright turquoise sparkly gravy, Christine pulled a face and let viewers know she was less than convinced by the culinary offering.

She added: ‘Lucie has done it for us and err…yeah…I don’t know what to think of it.’

Lucie then jumped in and tried to add a more upbeat spin to the meal, telling viewers: ‘It’s normal gravy, but it’s blue!’.

But she was also not keen on trying the gravy, adding: ‘It’s like something you’d see at the bottom of the swimming pool…

‘Yeah but I think it’s a bit weird when it isn’t brown.’

And while Lucie tried to encourage her co-host to try a little sausage covered in the glittery gravy, Christine admitted she’s ‘a bit traditional’ and refused to try the new trend.

She even teased her co-host for giving it a go, quipping: ‘Considering you tucked in to the cocktail when we were doing all the I’m A Celeb stuff and now you’re tucking in to this… Nothing stops you Lucie!’

Throughout the segment Christine continued to pull faces and scrunch her face up and told her co-host: ‘No I can’t eat that. I’m terrible – I eat what I see.’

Lucie conceded: ‘Tastes the same – just looks a bit…’

And Christine wasn’t the only one who was shocked by the new gravy trend.

Lorraine viewers took to X to share their disgust with one person writing: ‘Everyone loves glitter gravy said no one ever.’

While another viewer commented: ‘It’s a hard no on the glitter gravy for us’.

A third commented: Apparently ‘Glitter Gravy’ is a thing this year. What next’ while another ITV viewer said: ‘Glitter gravy? Not sure why you’d want that’.

And this isn’t the first time the host has been caught off-guard while presenting.

In August the Lorraine presenter was left speechless during an episode of Good Morning Britain when she was awkwardly probed by Ranvir Singh about her marriage.

The TV personality is married to football manager Frank Lampard, and the couple share children Patricia, five, and Freddie, two, after tying the knot in 2015.

Christine is also stepmother to Luna, 18, and Isla, 16, from Frank’s previous relationship with Spanish model Elen Rives.

During the breakfast programme on Thursday, as usual, hosts Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh cut to the Lorraine studio to check in with Christine on what was coming up on the show later.

Ed asked: ‘What have you got coming up for us Christine?,’ to which the stand-in presenter eagerly responded: ‘Hello, well, we’ve got lots for you today.

‘Coming up here, his hot girl summer continues, we’ll find out why Tom Cruise’s night at the Olympics has got everyone talking. And we’re putting your memory to the test and tips to boost it.’

She then teased a segment that looks at the advantages and disadvantages of going on holiday separately from your partner.

Christine continued: ‘Then, why going on holiday without your partner could be good for your relationship.’

But suddenly, Ranvir jumped in with a surprising question that left the Lorraine host lost for words.

She playfully joked: ‘Hang on a minute, Christine, what’s going on at home? Come on, you can share. Are you and Frank going on separate holidays?’

Christine appeared to be caught off guard and was silent for a moment before remarking: ‘Weirdly I’ve never done it and have no intention to, but today we’re seeing why apparently it could be really good for you so who knows? It’s early days.’

Ranvir laughed: ‘Okay well we’ll be listening,’ with Ed chiming in with: ‘Don’t do it Christine, don’t do it’.

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1 from 9am and is available to stream on ITVX.
