I filmed Water of Leith’s wildlife while recovering from knee surgery

Tom Kelly, a Scottish accountant, documented hours of wildlife footage along a city centre river while recovering from knee replacement surgery.

Doctors advised Mr Kelly to walk as much as possible to help him recover from the surgery.

He began walking and documenting the local wildlife along the Water of Leith, which runs through the centre of Edinburgh. He has since walked 5,000 miles and made a full recovery.

Mr Kelly compiled the footage he captured of otters and their cubs, kingfishers, foxes and herons.

“I was meant to have my other knee replaced but with all the walking I’ve done, I’ve managed to put off the surgery completely, which is amazing,” he said.
