Disturbing prison antics of father who killed his kids because he thought they had ‘serpent DNA’

A QAnon-obsessed California dad accused of killing his two small children has been displaying disturbing prison antics as prosecutors weigh whether he is competent to stand trial.

Matthew Taylor Coleman, 43, allegedly murdered his son Kaleo, 2, and daughter Roxy, 10-months, in 2021 after becoming convinced that they had ‘serpent DNA.’

His drawn-out three-year wait for trial has been delayed numerous times as courts decide whether he is mentally competent to face murder charges, with a judge ruling this week that the issue must be decided by February 18.

Sources told the New York Post that his mental health has continued to deteriorate behind bars. He has repeatedly attempted to mutilate himself while under supervision.

This has reportedly included cutting himself with a razor, slamming his head against the floor, punching himself in the face and diving headfirst into a toilet.

Family members told the outlet that he has been practically incomprehensible when they have spoken to him, and court records found he has been medicated against his will since May.

‘He rambles a lot,’ a Coleman family member said.

‘And it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Something has happened, but he’s not the man we know and love. I don’t know what switched.’

Matthew Coleman (pictured left with wife Abby, two-year-old son Kaleo and 10-month-old daughter Roxy), 40, of Santa Barbara, admitted to the FBI that he ‘believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them’

The shocking deaths of Coleman’s children occurred on August 7, 2021, when the father-of-two was preparing for a family vacation with his wife Abby.

He allegedly began acting erratically as they packed for the trip. He then Kaleo and Roxy in their van and drove away without saying a word to his wife.

Coleman took the two young children across the border into Mexico and booked them into a resort for several days.

Authorities said he then drove his children to the nearby Christian camp Rancho del Cielo and stabbed them both to death with a spearfishing gun.

Coleman was apprehended by authorities trying to re-enter the USA at the Ysidro Point of Entry after his wife alerted authorities to his whereabouts using the Find My iPhone app.

After he was taken into custody, Coleman reportedly confessed to the grisly murders, telling the FBI he ‘had to’ kill his children because he was ‘enlightened’ by theories about Q-Anon and the illuminati.

He told investigators that he believed he was ‘saving the world’ by killing his toddlers because they would ‘grow into monsters.’

Court documents claimed Coleman told police about ‘receiving visions and signs that his wife possessed serpent DNA and had passed it onto his children’.

‘He mentioned that he was not sure if his wife was a shapeshifter and had passed it onto his children and that all things were pointing to the idea that his children have corrupted DNA that will spread if something is not done about it,’ Coleman’s affidavit stated.

Sources told the Post that Abby left California and moved back to Texas to be with her family after the tragedy.

‘Obviously what she had is now gone forever, and she’s been dealing with that for more than three years,’ they said.

‘But she’ll never be the same. It’s still very sad.’

After news of the murders shocked the nation three years ago, Coleman’s unhinged social media posts made headlines as he shared prophetic biblical ramblings.

On his Instagram, Coleman openly talked about a new type of ‘Great American Renaissance’ that ‘will empower each person’s heart to come alive and explode’. He goes onto ask if ‘2020 could just be the ‘birth pains’ of what is on its way in 2021?’

The troubled father of two declared that his daughter Roxy Rain was ‘handpicked by God to slay the giants of the land’ and calls both his children ‘gifts from God’.

In another post, Coleman says ‘There is a truth buried in the heart of every man and woman which holds the key to God-likeness. This will open the door to a limitless flow of divine power and creativity’.

In another post that bears some similarity to the anti-establishment ethos of QAnon, Coleman says he is ‘convinced at some point in our lives we will accumulate enough valid evidence for why we should stop trusting our government officials, bosses, coworkers, church, family and friends’.

He says doing so is a ‘doorway to experiencing the most liberating reality on earth’.

The dad also waxed lyrical about The Renaissance and the Dark Ages. Wondering if we are living in our own Dark Age right now that is waiting to be lit up by a ‘creative explosion’.

‘The Crazy thing about history is that you don’t know what your season will be labeled as until years down the road. And more so, sometimes your time period isn’t labeled by what happens during it, but rather what happens after it.’

Back in October 2020 Coleman posted to Instagram a gushing post about his newborn daughter and his ‘fearless wife Abby for bringing us baby Roxy’.

The caption reads: ‘Another picture that came to me was of God reaching down into a river bed and picking up a small stone (rock), examining it intently. Just as David had done before slaying Goliath, God examined the stone and was confident that it was just the perfect one for the battle.

‘Although it was small, smooth and somewhat harmless looking, he knew that it would become great when placed into the palm of a skilled hand.’
