Classic British family home goes on sale for £295,000 – but wait until you see the bizarre feature in the kitchen

A classic British family home in Swansea has just come off the market but the kitchen has an unexpected feature.

At first glance, it is just an ordinary two-bedroom home in the charming seaside village of Mumbles, in Swansea.

The quirky bright-blue terraced house is just minutes from the coast and was up for £295,000.

But the otherwise unassuming house has an interesting feature.

In most households below the hob is located an oven, but in this two-bed, the previous owners opted instead for a lizard tank.

Sat under the countertop is what looks to be a large lizard tank with several small lizards inside.

Describing the ‘interior highlights’ on property site OnTheMarket, it says: ‘Step inside to discover a meticulously presented interior.

‘The living spaces are bathed in natural light, creating an inviting ambiance throughout. Modern fixtures and fittings complement the tasteful design, offering a blend of style and functionality.’

However, there is no mention of the particularly intriguing yet odd feature.

In a video posted by TikTok page Housing Horrors, there looks to be three to four lizards in the tank.

The post has gone viral, setting off a debate about whether the amphibians are real or not.

While some say the tank is genuine, others are arguing that it is clearly a fake.

One TikTok user said: ‘It’s a fake vivarium but cool none the less.’

Another claimed they had stayed in the house and could verify it is not fake.

The comment read: ‘I’ve stayed in this house, it’s not a fake viv.

‘The house backs onto the rocky bank and the rocks couldn’t have moved so it’s just as viewing glass for the rock.’

A valid question asked by the Housing Horrors account runner was where the oven is.

An advert by estate agents Astleys last year read: ‘Embrace Coastal Living at its Finest!

‘Nestled within the vibrant embrace of the seaside village of Mumbles, this impeccably presented two-bedroom, two-bathroom mid-terrace property is your gateway to the perfect coastal lifestyle.

‘Discover the charm and convenience of this home, strategically set in an enviable location that seamlessly blends modern comfort with seaside allure.

‘From the moment you step inside, you’ll be captivated by the inviting atmosphere and thoughtful design.’

The OnTheMarket listing read: ‘This home’s prime location ensures convenience at your doorstep.

‘Explore the eclectic mix of local shops, cafes, and restaurants, or take leisurely strolls along the picturesque coastline, soaking in the beauty of Mumbles’ renowned surroundings.’
