An 18-year-old man has denied the murder of father-of-seven Colin Richards.
Mr Richards, 48, from Grangetown, Cardiff, was found unconscious in Ely in April last year.
Corey Gauci, from Ely, appeared at a hearing in Cardiff Crown Court and pleaded not guilty when the charge was put to him.
Mr Gauci also pleaded not guilty to a charge of violent disorder, where it was alleged he used or threatened unlawful violence.
Mr Richards’ family has said he was a much-loved father and grandfather and an “all-round family man”.
“Though the loss is deep, the power of love and friendship will always stay alive,” they added.
Mr Gauci was remanded in custody and will stand trial in March.
