Luke Littler made his pitch to be the next Wayne Rooney as he scored down at the park to help seal a local league title with the ‘worst penalty ever’.

The Manchester United super-fan dispatched a spot-kick for YouTuber Angryginge’s Under-18s team Winton Wanderers Yanited.

People are more used to seeing Littler, 18, be a menace on the oche and though his penalty was far from perfect, he was facing adverse conditions.

Littler’s shot bobbled on the boggy pitch before sneaking down the middle past the goalkeeper, who had dived too early.

Witnesses say Littler came on with 10 minutes to spare before scoring his goal in a 5-2 victory over Cherrybrook Celtic in the Bolton, Bury and District Football League.

His team-mates jogged over to congratulate him and as he turned from the camera, a unique twist to his kit was revealed: Littler’s number was, of course, 180.

‘What can’t this lad do,’ wrote one viewer on X.

‘He needs to take up football and give up darts,’ a TikTok user said.

‘Are you (Gareth) Bale in disguise,’ said another.

Some people were not so convinced by his skills, though.

‘Worst pen I’ve ever seen,’ said one viewer.

‘Bounced about nine times before it got to the keeper who dived before kick off,’ another said.

‘How did that go in, LOL,’ one commented.

Earlier this season, Littler issued a brutal verdict on the current crop of Manchester United stars, saying: ‘There’s some players in the club [who] are getting on a bit.

‘They need to go and play somewhere else. And, obviously, we need to find the right players to fit in the squad.’

The darts sensation, who won the World Championship this year, has been a special guest of the Red Devils both at Old Trafford and their Carrington training centre.

He has met Sir Alex Ferguson and paraded his World Championship trophy around the stadium that he loves in February.

‘It was probably one of the best moments of my life and will live with me forever,’ Littler said of that day.

‘I was scheduled to parade the trophy before kick-off but Denis Law had passed away. There was an empty seat there where Denis would have sat on matchday.

‘I sat behind Sir Alex Ferguson and was chatting to him for a bit, which was good. It’s one of the best things I have ever done.’
