A man has been treated in hospital for a gunshot wound to his calf following a shooting in the Kilcooley estate in Bangor, County Down.
Police received a report just before 22:00 GMT on Thursday that the man in his 20s had presented himself to hospital.
Officers believe that he was shot a short time before this.
Det Sgt Bell said that it was a “despicable attack”, adding that “those involved in this incident do not represent the interests of the local community, nor do they contribute anything to it”.
