Marc Sneyd: Warrington Wolves sign Salford Red Devils half-back

Warrington Wolves have signed half-back Marc Sneyd from troubled Salford for an undisclosed fee on an 18-month deal.

The 34-year-old came through the Red Devils’ youth ranks before returning for a second spell in 2022.

He made 83 appearances and his 844 Super League points in that time is a club record.

Paul Rowley’s side have lost all four Super League games in 2025 after starting the season under a sustainability cap which means they could not field their strongest side.

The proposed takeover by an investment group led by Swiss banker Dario Berta is progressing but a delay in funds being transferred led to wages for February being held up and the cap being reintroduced.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve had to make the tough decision to leave Salford in pursuit of a new opportunity,” Sneyd told the Salford website., external

“I want to go on record in thanking everyone who has made returning here so memorable and wish the club nothing but the best in the future.”

Sneyd, who was nominated for the Man of Steel award last season, could make his debut for the Wire against St Helens on Friday, 21 March.

“Marc is a very talented half-back with a fantastic kicking game and strong leadership qualities,” Warrington head coach Sam Burgess told the club website., external

“His experience will be invaluable to our squad and we’re excited to welcome him to Warrington.”
