- Peter Crouch is known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to humour
- He couldn’t hold back as he spoke to ITV’s Oli Bell at Cheltenham Festival
- The former striker cracked a cheeky joke about his wife Abbey Clancy
Peter Crouch aroused fits of laughter with a naughty slip-up at Cheltenham Festival.
The former England striker dragged wife Abbey Clancy into the equation as he reminisced about his days at the festival with presenter Oli Bell.
Crouch has been a regular attendee at Prestbury Parkever since he was introduced to the sport by old Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.
He’s a deft hand at whacking elements of comedy into his punditry and the 44-year-old did not hold back when given the opportunity by ITV on Thursday afternoon.
‘I’ve been on a few horses,’ he started. So far, so safe. Then came the punchline.
‘Abbey likes to ride… horses,’ he added, a quip which left Bell unable to contain his cackling.

Crouch and Clancy tied the knot in 2011 in Leicestershire and have had four kids together
Crouch dug deeper. ‘I’ve been thrown off a couple of times,’ he said, and by this stage the ex-Liverpool star was almost losing his balance as he keeled over in laughter.
Perhaps remembering that they were not speaking past the watershed, Bell recollected himself and decided to ‘leave it at that,’ though the smirk remained on his face for a few seconds after.
Some users on X fancied themselves as comedians as they provided commentary on the cheeky chit-chat.
‘She likes to ride Stallions Pete, not a Pony lol,’ one user hit back.
‘Crouchy is absolutely hilarious,’ said another.
‘Bloke’s a national treasure,’ one said.
There were, however, dissenting voices.
‘Future of terrestrial TV racing in these hands. God help us,’ one commented.

Clancy and Crouch got married in 2011 at the four-star Church Of St Mary Magdalene in Leicestershire and have four kids.
They tied the knot on the 500-acre grounds of the luxury country house hotel and sporting estate, which includes a golf course and a spa.
Crouch has had some good fortune at the races over the years.
On day three in 2023, he was left punching the air alongside former team-mate Glen Johnson after his 9-1 outsider Good Time Jonny romped to victory in the 2.10 Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle.
The ex-footballer roared the Irish horse home from his seat high in the main grandstand above the finishing post.
