Wales look set to be without captain Aaron Ramsey for the start of their World Cup qualifying campaign after he suffered another hamstring injury.
Ramsey, who had only returned from a five-month lay-off in February, had to be substituted during Cardiff City’s 2-1 defeat against Luton Town on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old was due to be included in Wales’ squad for this month’s matches against Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.
But when head coach Craig Bellamy names his squad at 10:00 GMT on Wednesday, it is almost certain not to contain Ramsey.
The former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder looked devastated after his injury on Tuesday, pulling his shirt over his head as he trudged off the field.
Ramsey has been ravaged by injury since returning to Cardiff, his boyhood club, in the summer of 2023.
His contract expires at the end of this season and, although he has said he would like to extend his stay in the Welsh capital, this latest blow could seriously limit his involvement for the remainder of this campaign as the Bluebirds aim to avoid relegation from the Championship.
Wales begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign at home to Kazakhstan on Saturday, 22 March, before travelling to North Macedonia three days later.
