This is the terrifying moment a masked robber carried out a knife-point raid in front of queuing shoppers at a supermarket.
Leon Carpin, 34, armed himself with a blade before threatening a till worker at a Lidl store in Cardiff.
A court heard terrified shoppers were left ‘shaking’ as they watched Carpin demand money from the cashier at lunchtime on November 9 last year.
The father-of-one, who was arrested less than two hours after the robbery, has now been jailed for five years and six months.
One witness filmed Carpin on a mobile phone as he demanded ‘just open it mate’ at the store on Caxton Place in the Pentwyn area of Cardiff.
Prosecutor Ruth Smith said the he was persistent and leaned over to get to the till drawer with the four-inch blade still in his right hand.
Cardiff Crown Court heard the cashier was able to use a communication device to alert other staff members.
Carpin took around £250 in cash before saying: ‘Brave man eh?’ as he left the supermarket filled with customers.

A search of his home also led to the discovery of 1.6g of cocaine, which police suspect he bought with his loot.
Prosecutor Ms Smith said the defendant was also to be dealt with for the theft of a car on November 7.
He also breached a restraining order against his ex-partner.
Carpin, of Pontprennau, pleaded guilty to robbery, possessing a knife in a public place and possessing crack cocaine on February 28.
Defending Hashim Salmman said he suffered ‘adverse childhood experiences’ and had mental health difficulties.
