Homebuyers brand £700,000 home as the ‘worst value property’ they’ve ever seen

A London home worse than a ‘Siberian gulag’ has hit the market for £700,000 prompting comments it might be the poorest value property ever listed.

Sellers on Rightmove are stitching up a bargain for would-be occupants with their two-bedroom terraced house on Barlby Road in Kensington and Chelsea.

Images listed online of the humble abode – which lies above a shop – show rooms complete with cracked walls and dilapidated ceilings.

The home is described as a ‘unique’ mixed-use development opportunity and its history shows it was previously sold for £65,000 in 2014 – meaning the owners are now trying to sell for a more than 1000 per cent mark-up.

Curious homebuyers have taken to the internet to express their disbelief at the offering, with some even saying they believe it may be the ‘worst value property ever posted’.

One Reddit user, kirstytheworsty, said: ‘The fact that they’ve used the word “unique” definitely points to the fact that an estate agent was trying desperately to find a word to describe this hovel kindly.’

Another, deej4yduby4, said they ‘[loved] the sheer futility of that fairy liquid in the bathroom’.

Others questioned whether there was even a kitchen – to which the answer was confirmed as being no, while one individual sarcastically remarked they ‘love what they’ve done with the place’.

one person said: ‘What more do you need other than a William Hill, a Nisa local, a pizza takeaway, a barber shop and a Chinese takeaway right on your doorstep’

The property is marketed by estate agent Druce as lying a ‘short walk to Ladbroke Grove station’.

It is also described as ‘well situated for the trendy Portobello Road and Golborne Road’ with ‘easy access’ to the city.

But some people were not so sure with one claiming they used to work near the house a few decades ago and it was ‘definitely not a great area’ and another saying ‘let me tell you that area is not at all exclusive or desirable’.

Though, one person said: ‘What more do you need other than a William Hill, a Nisa local, a pizza takeaway, a barber shop and a Chinese takeaway right on your doorstep?’

The property is in Council tax band F and is described by the agent as ‘currently unmodernised’.
