Insane moment deranged California driver rams into CarMax showroom injuring eight people

A deranged driver left eight people injured after he barreled through a car showroom in California.

The terrifying moment was captured on video Saturday at a CarMax in Inglewood when a customer rammed through the dealership around 2.10pm.

According to CarMax, the unnamed customer was getting his vehicle appraised at the location on the 8600 block of south La Cienega Boulevard just before the chaotic incident.

After not agreeing with the offer he was given, the driver reportedly got back in his car and plowed through the building, witnesses said, according to KABC.

Two people were rushed to the hospital in critical condition while six others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The company released a statement addressing the ‘terrible event’, noting that the suspect was arrested by police.

‘This individual was a customer and was arrested by the police. We appreciate the authorities’ response to this terrible event. The safety of our employees, community and customers is our top priority,’ CarMax said on X.

‘We’re deeply saddened by this evert and our hearts go out to everyone impacted.’

Miguel Hernandez captured the wild footage, captioned ‘Never going to Carmax in the hood again.’

He ran over the entrance of the building from the parking lot as people were heard shrieking in terror.

When he got to the door, a heavily dented gray sedan was seen aggressively reversing into the building while horrified witnesses watched on in complete shock.

Once through the doors, the driver dramatically swerved the car around inside as a terrified employee charged out of the dealership to protect himself.

‘What the f***?!,’ someone yelled as a woman repeated: ‘Out! Go that way, go that way, go that way!’

People were then seen hopping over broken glass as the rogue driver turned left inside and sped out of the building, crashing into windows.

In the aftermath, desks, chairs and computers were seen flipped around while piles of broken glass covered the floors.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said they initially received a call for an active shooter, but soon realized that was not the case, KABC reported.

The unidentified male driver turned himself into the Los Angeles Police Department at a police academy on Manchester Avenue after driving away from the scene, NBC News reported.

He was arrested and is facing assault with a deadly weapon, among other charges.

Although the exact reason why the driver got so angry is unclear, CarMax is known for appraising customers’ vehicles based on the car’s overall condition and mileage, among other factors.

Jennifer Coffindaffer, a law and justice contributor for NewsNation, took to X expressing her concern for people, including the driver, who are ‘on the brink of serious rage.’

‘I was as [sic] Carmax 2 days ago. They gave me a low ball offer on my Jaguar, after pointing out every minor flaw. I said thank you for your time and left,’ she wrote alongside the video.

‘This guy got into it with Carmax staff and drove his car into their showroom. Injuring 8, 2 critically.

‘What was going on in this person’s life that a dispute over a car deal could cause him to attempt murder? There are a lot of people out there on the brink of serious rage.’

DailyMail.com contacted the Inglewood Police Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and CarMax for comment.

A similar incident took place on December 9, when Michael Lee Murray, 35, drove his new Subaru into a Utah dealership.

Murray was apparently upset after he bought the Subaru Outback from the Tim Dale Mazda Southtowne dealership in Sandy earlier that day – only to find what he said were mechanical issues with the vehicle, according to Fox 13.

He returned to the dealership hours later demanding his money back and asking to return the vehicle, telling police in the aftermath that the store ‘sold him a lemon and they would not give him his money back,’ Newsweek reported.

Salesmen then explained that the sales contract for the Subaru Outback was ‘as is,’ and would therefore not give him a refund, prompting him to plow through the building.
